This figure with its distinctive face quickly became an audience favourite and the artist’s trademark as it embarked on an unstoppable conquest of the art world. Along the way, the “X X” eyes came to stand for an innovative artistic concept that gripped all of popular culture. KAWS expanded his repertoire of figures and created 3D versions of them. Today, he is one of the world’s most sought-after artists, and his larger-than-life sculptures gaze out over the world in a number of different places as if they were a physical part of their surroundings.
